Memories - Barbados Island Adventures with Rex.
Rex Wotton managed the West Coast Watersports center at Coral Reef hotel. It was only a short walk from Settlers Beach. The shop took hotel guest diving and on sailing tours around the coast. He was a master seafarer trained by the Royal Merchant Navy in navigation, and marine work.
Rex was just one of the most captivating Rogues you would ever meet. His sense of joy and sharp wit enveloped every circumstance.
Rex was self-reliant from the start he often disapeared for days at a time to camp around the banks of Joes' river, catching fish to survive. He built fires from coconut bark and branches and baked his catch with breadfruit, wild okras, plantain, and edible vines. He ate mangoes, and local berries like fat pork, and sea grapes, that grew near the beach.
